Senior Year

Of all the milestones in life, high school graduation is one that always hits a bit differently. As the class of 2023 prepares to cross the stage and receive their diplomas, there’s an undeniable sense of nostalgia and sentimentality that comes with saying goodbye to the halls of their high schools. “The memories of Copper Hills High,” if you will.

One of the things that seniors will without a doubt miss about high school is the food. Specifically, the spicy chicken sandwiches that seem to be a staple in every high school cafeteria. For many, these sandwiches have become a go-to lunch option, and there’s something about the combination of crispy breading and pickles that just hits the spot. It gives students something to look forward to when they feel like they can’t focus in class because of hunger.

But more than the food, seniors will miss the friendships they’ve made during their time in high school. These are the people that have been by their side through the ups and downs of adolescence, and who have seen them grow and change over the course of three years. These are the friends that they’ve laughed with, cried with, and made memories with that will last a lifetime. The ones that one day will look back on treasure, happy those are the people they grew up with.

From school dances to football games, high school has been a time for seniors to make memories with their friends that they’ll cherish forever. They’ll miss the Friday night lights, seemingly never-ending amount of dances, and the feeling of being part of something bigger than themselves.

And of course, there’s the matter of first loves and heartbreaks. For many seniors, high school was a time of romantic exploration. A time to have crushes, go on dates, and experience the thrill of falling in love for the first time. But with that comes the inevitable heartbreak, and for many, leaving high school means saying goodbye to those first loves and the memories that come with them.

But even with all those bittersweet memories of high school, seniors are still eager to move onto the next chapter of their lives. Whether it’s college, work, or another post-high school achievement, they’re excited to see what the future holds.

As they prepare to leave high school behind, many seniors are reflecting on the lessons they’ve learned and the person they’ve become over the past four years. They’re excited to take those lessons and apply them to their next adventure, and to continue growing and evolving as individuals.

At the same time, there’s a sense of trepidation that comes with leaving high school. The familiar routines and structures that have defined their daily lives for the past four years will no longer be there, and they’ll have to navigate a new, uncertain path forward.

In the end, high school is a time of transition – a time when we’re figuring out who we are and who we want to be. Leaving it behind means saying goodbye to a part of ourselves, but it also means embarking on a new journey filled with excitement, growth, and endless possibilities. As seniors say goodbye to the halls of their high schools, they’ll undoubtedly feel a sense of nostalgia and sentimentality. But they’ll also be filled with hope and excitement for the future, eager to see what the next chapter of their lives has in store for them. But Grizzlies always remember, “Our lives will be linked through Copper Hills High.”

A short message dedicated to the spicy chicken sandwiches here and Copper Hills.

The spicy chicken sandwiches at Copper Hills are a fan favorite, and have been for years. They are always the first thing to go in the lunchroom. It also has the longest line and takes some time to get to the front. Most people sprint out of class to the lunchroom to be the first in line. In past years, students, specifically seniors have created Copper Hills “meme” accounts and have made multiple posts spotlighting the hype that revolves around these delicious sandwiches.

If you have a bland taste pallet these sandwiches are for you. Just the right amount of spice without being too overwhelming. Some might even say it’s perfect.
