Copper Hills Drumline Takes 1st Place

Copper Hills Drumline Takes 1st Place

On February 20, 2021, Copper Hills Drumline left their competition at Bingham High School as champions.

This was drumline’s first competition of the season, and they’re off to a great start with a first place finish.

The Copper Hills Drumline is a winter ensemble composed entirely of percussion instruments. Many of its members participate in other Copper Hills musical ensembles such as marching band and jazz band.

The Copper Hills Drumline has found much success in recent years, and during the 2020 season they were predicted to take State. Sadly, their season was brought to an abrupt halt when schools shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That isn’t the only curveball the pandemic has thrown our drumline. Due to COVID-19, most of the state’s winter percussion ensembles have significantly decreased in size. As a result, divisions have been rearranged based on the size of schools’ ensembles. Being one of the smallest drumlines in the state, our division has shifted to include West Jordan, Fremont, and Ogden. Thus far, Ogden and Fremont are shaping up to be our toughest competition.

The Copper Hills Drumline has their next competition on March 6, 2021 at Farmington High School, so be sure to wish our Grizzlies luck!
