Camilla signs her NLI to BYU

Camilla Andam is a multi-sport athlete here at Copper Hills High School. She is a Division 1 bound athlete, committed to BYU for Track and Field. Andam is a captain of volleyball as well as track and field. Not only is Andam involved in sports, she is also the president of the Copper Hills Hope Squad.

Andam’s volleyball career consisted of three years of varsity and one year of junior varsity. During those four years she contributed to the team’s success, namely, a 2nd place finish in State, and 3x Region Champions. Andam made a huge impact both on and off the court. When giving advice to the underclassmen on the team, Andam stated, “Always remember to work for what you want and don’t settle for what other people tell you, and you can really do whatever you want in life.”

Recently Andam committed to BYU for track and field, surprising everyone at her National Letter of Intent signing day. Only her parents and best friend knew beforehand. Throughout Andam’s four years on track and field she has accomplished a lot. Andam had varsity experience all four years and has also qualified for state all four years. Andam also holds the school record for the 4×100 as well as long jump. Not only has Andam set school records, but she has also set a state record for long jump, which won her the state championship in 2019. Last but not least, Andam is a 2x region champion, winning in 2017 and 2018 for track and field.

When it came to deciding which college to take her athletic career, she had several options in mind. Andam states, “I had narrowed it down to University Of Utah, Weber state, and BYU. So I decided to keep my decision making process down to three nights so it wouldn’t be as stressful.” She was down to the wire with her decision the night before her NLI signing, “I was laying in bed and I saw my BYU lanyard hanging up from my recruiting trip, and then I just started to think about what it would be like to go there and I got super excited and it just felt like the right place to go. They have really nice facilities, and I love the coaches there.”

We all wish Camilla the best of luck in this upcoming track and field season as well as her future career as a Cougar.
