The Copper Hills High School Girls Volleyball had an amazing season last year going 8-0 overall in Region and 26-5 overall. They are currently four games into this season, having defeated last year’s 4A State Champions, Skyview and the 5A Runner-up, Springville.

The last three years have brought growing success to a team that has historically not been a contender. “I feel like [team unity] was way better than it was even last year, everyone gets along and we work together pretty well,” said Varsity Team Captain, Paiten Langston.

The teams’ unification could be contributed to their successes they’ve had in their past couple of games and their positive attitude despite a recent loss to Pleasant Grove. “We played really well,” Emily Wight, Senior, said, “and it showed us what we needed to work on throughout this upcoming season if anything it motivated us.”

The team is excited about the momentum they’ve got going, especially since it’s been such great odds. Langston said, “It [has been] good to see the competition in the other divisions and to play against them and see where we range against them.”

The girls plan to continue where they left off and more.  “[Our goal] is to take the region championship again for the third year in a row,” Langston said, “if that happens then our second goal is to make it to the finals of the state championship.” With how the team is playing so far, a finals push isn’t unlikely. But

The team has major obstacles in the form of really good teams to defeat in the process.  To prepare, the girls will need to stay focused. “Staying on our side of the net, playing with our team and staying level headed,” Langston said, in regards to keeping the team in check, “It doesn’t matter about the other team, but [that we’re] playing our game at all times.” For any team to be a success, teamwork must be the cornerstone, and Girl’s Volleyball has made it clear that they will make this their biggest goal going forward. Although the team might face some challenges, it’s safe to say that we as a school have total faith that they will bring that championship home. Good luck girls and have a great season!.
