The undefeated Grizzly hockey team took to the ice one last time in the state championship game against Bingham High School. Nerves and excitement filled the rink as the stands filled with Grizzly parents, faculty, and students.

The whole game was neck and neck as the Grizzlies and Miners traded off points. It wasn’t until the end of the third period that the Grizzlies started to pull ahead. In the last five minutes of the game, the Grizzlies scored two goals, pulling ahead to make the score 8-6. As time ticked down to the last minute the Miners took out their goalie to add an extra player as a last minute effort to win.  With 40 seconds left, the Grizzlies made the final goal of the night, shooting the puck from the far right side of the rink into the Miner’s goal.

The Grizzly Hockey team huddled together after the final buzzer went off.

When the final buzzer rang, it sounded like a stampede had entered the rink. Screaming fans and stomping feet filled the air as the Copper Hills Grizzly team swarmed each other, throwing gloves, sticks, and helmets all over the ice. The Copper Hills Hockey Team was in perfect harmony as they worked together throughout the entire season to make it to this moment.

This was a huge win not only for the CH hockey team but for the entire Copper Hills community. The CH drill team, basketball team, volleyball team, and several other clubs gave a shoutout on Twitter and other social media to the hockey team mentioning how proud of the team they are. This proved, once again, how united the Grizzlies are. Even when a team isn’t a sanctioned sport, they still have the support of the whole Grizzly nation. Next time you see a hockey player, tell them congratulations.
