On January 5th, the Copper Hills Boys Basketball team faced off Bingham at a home game. The stands were filled beyond packed with eager students dressed for the ‘black-out’, anxiously awaiting the game. The Grizzly starting lineup was made up of players number 3 Stone Hutching, 4 Seth Argyle, 12 Kylan Shorts, 15 Jake Jensen, and 44 Trevon Allfrey.

The game began with baskets pingpong-ing between the two teams. Bingham would make a basket, then Copper Hills, as students watched the ball race across the court. In one particularly memorable moment, player Jake Jensen ran gaining such momenting that he tumbled up the opposing teams parent section. Second quarter began with a basket going to the Grizzlies, made my player 21 Joseph Wilson. With each foul called, student’s animosity towards the referees grew.

Going into halftime, the score was 25 to 37. For halftime entertainment, the losing portion of a baseball team competition lead to a hilarious and entertaining dance done to Fergalicious, with a little help from the cheerleaders.

Intensity increased as the game progressed into the third and fourth quarters. The student section continued showing their support as the differences between the two scores shrunk, then grew. The number of fouls on both teams drastically increased, and in the fourth quarter there was a several-player-pileup on the court floor.

The game ended 53 to 64; a win for the Bingham Miners. Following the loss, Alishia Crimson, Boys Basketball Manager, commented, “I love the boys and we work hard. In the end you got to realize it’s not all about winning. Enjoy your team because they’re your family. Don’t take it for granted.”
